Traveling with your Pet

Traveling with your Pet

Tips for Traveling with Pets

Travel Tips

Before you travel, make sure your pet is healthy. While we would always love to bring our pets along with us, always prioritize your pet’s safety, health, and comfort. Be sure all shots are up to date, and your pet has been given flea and ticks medication. Particularly while traveling, you must be able to provide proof of your pet’s rabies vaccination status at all times. Depending on state regulations, a pet without proof of current vaccination may be quarantined.
Bathing and grooming your pet is always a good idea before leaving home. Not only are they more comfortable, they are more presentable too. Also, feed your pet several hours before you depart and take them for a long walk.

Pet-Friendly Accommodations

If you are staying overnight in a hotel, make sure you have booked a pet-friendly hotel. Call beforehand to check for pet fees, weight restrictions and other rules that may apply. Most accommodations ask that you do not leave the pet alone in the room. Considering asking for room service or pet-friendly restaurants nearby.

Getting Car Ready

Make sure your pet has a safe place to ride in the car. Pet harnesses and pet car seats are very important for keeping your pet from getting injured if you have to stop suddenly. Make sure your pet has access to water. You need to stop at a safe location every 2-3 hours to let your pet stretch their legs and take a potty break.
