Exotics
Taking good care of exotic pets presents a special challenge. Our goal is to work as a team with pet owners to provide the best possible life for our exotic patients. We offer housing and care consultations to help exotic pet owners keep their pets happy and healthy. Many of our health care team members have personal experience with their own exotic pets and are happy to share their knowledge. Because these special pets often hide signs of illness, we recommend medical examinations at least every six months.
Dr. Susan Brashear has a special interest in exotic animal medicine. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Abilene Christian University in 1999 and her DVM from Louisiana State University in 2003. Her veterinary education had an emphasis on Avian/Exotic/Zoo/Aquarium Medicine. She completed externships at the Baton Rouge Zoo and the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, and a clerkship at Sea World in Orlando. Her goal is to make available excellent veterinary care for our exotic patients, and education and information for their owners.
