Denise Smith, DVM
Dr. Smith is a 1985 graduate of Texas A&M University. She established the Main Street Veterinary Hospital in 1988. As practice owner and senior veterinarian, Dr. Smith focuses on managing, mentoring and training the hospital’s pet health care team. She decided to remove herself from the appointment book a few years ago and began concentrating most of her continuing education on practice management.
Dr. Smith has a strong interest in ultrasonography and performs echocardiograms on consult for Main Street Veterinary Hospital patients.
In addition to her work obligations, Dr. Smith is a busy mother of four children (three of whom are adopted from China and under seven years of age!), three dogs and three cats. She also serves on the board of directors for two locally owned emergency practices.
Susan Brashear, DVM
Dr. Brashear graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1999 with her B.S. in Biology, and earned her DVM from Louisiana State University in 2003. Her veterinary education had an emphasis on Avian/Exotic/Zoo/Aquarium medicine. She completed externships at the Baton Rouge Zoo and the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, and a clerkship at Sea World in Orlando.
In addition to Exotic Pet Medicine, her special interests include Dermatology, Pain Management and Nutrition. She strives to improve the lives of exotic pet animals through education and appropriate medical care. As exotic pets tend to hide illness and pain, she encourages complete medical exams twice yearly.
Dr. Brashear’s hobbies include gourmet cooking, scrapbooking, and SCUBA diving. She lives with her husband (who is also a veterinarian), her shih tzu Doc, her cat Callaway and her cockatiel Belle.
Brook Quinn, DVM
Dr. Quinn graduated from the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002, and joined the Main Street Veterinary Hospital team that same year. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Molecular Biology in 1998. Dr. Quinn has a special interest in Internal Medicine and ultrasound.
When not working, Dr. Quinn enjoys swimming, reading, and spending time with her family, including Spooky the cat, Arthur and Isis the dogs and Mike the husband.
Dr. Emily Redding
The most recent addition to our professional team, Dr. Redding joined our staff in May 2009. She graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Texas Tech University in 2000. Dr. Redding has gained valuable experience in small animal medicine and surgery, as well as emergency medicine, prior to relocating here from Lubbock, Texas. She has a special interest in Soft Tissue Surgery, but also enjoys Exotic Animal and Wildlife medicine, Ophthalmology, and Endocrinology.
In her free time, Dr. Redding enjoys camping and hiking. She would love to learn to mountain bike, fly fish and water ski. She and her husband Greg are the proud “parents” of four cats (Khali, Alexander, Sophia and Roman), a Siberian Husky (Nikita) and an Arizona Mountain Kingsnake (Jezebelle.)
Dr. Chris Carter
Dr. Chris Carter joined our staff in February, 2008. He is a 1999 graduate of Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine and has worked in veterinary hospitals in Oklahoma and Alabama. He has advanced training and a special interest in veterinary dentistry and is passionate about preventing the “silent suffering” experienced by pets with dental disease.
Dr. Carter is married and has one son, two daughters, five cats, two dogs and a rabbit. He enjoys mountain biking and is an accomplished auctioneer.
Mary Beth Soto, CVA, Practice Manager
Mary Beth has been with Main Street Veterinary Hospital for 11 years, and has been Practice Manager since 1998. She has 26 years of experience in veterinary hospitals as technician and manager, and has had a special interest in management for the past 20 years. She has a keen sense of technology and also serves as the hospital’s IT person.
Mary Beth has two daughters, one son and one grandson. Her hobbies include scrapbooking and jewelry-making. She lives in Flower Mound with her husband and their menagerie of four dogs, four cats and a Parrot named Sam.
Angie El Gamrani, RVT, VDT, Office Manager
Angie joined the Main Street Veterinary Hospital team in 1992. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician and graduated from Cedar Valley College in 1983 with a degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. She has worked in the veterinary medical field for 28 years in all areas of the veterinary hospital: kennel, technician, receptionist, emergency medicine, and Office Manager. Angie also has 6 years of teaching experience at a veterinary assistant school. Her special interest within the practice is writing, designing and editing materials for marketing, advertising and client education.
In her “off” time, Angie enjoys writing, jewelry-making, and singing with her guitarist husband. She shares her home with her “daughters” Kricket the Corgi, Mysti the Pomeranian and Chloe the Siamese cat.
